Snetterton is the longest lap on the BTCC calendar and one of the quickest for top speed, featuring two of longest straights in the UK. It's where the braking capabilities of the tyres really counts.

The BTCC had its first taste of the new-look Snetterton 300 circuit last year. The multi-million pound redevelopment project was universally praised after a mile of complex corners was added to the fast-flowing circuit to accompany the super fast straights.

For top speed it doesn't get any quicker than Bentley Straight, which follows Williams Corner. Exit speed is vital here. If a driver gets it just right coming out of Williams Corner he can look to overtake on the straight.

We are likely to see lots of side-by-side racing here, heading towards a chicane with super fast entry before going hard on the brakes to get through safely.

The Dunlop Sportmaxx BTCC tyres are built to give drivers ultimate confidence when switching from full throttle to firm breaking, allowing them to get that extra 0.1mph out of the car, which can make all the difference.

The estranged British summer is poised this weekend, sunny weather is predicted. If the warm weather arrives we will see a fast race with the tyres heating up quicker than any other time this year.

It's important to note that in the BTCC use the same tyre in the cold weather we get in March and October as we do in the height of summer. The tyres have more in common with a road car tyre than many specialist racing tyres.

It may still be the school holidays, but we we'll be educated just a little more about who wants to make the 2012 season their own this weekend.
