As part of our celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary, cast members past and present came together to record the album Coronation Street: Rogues, Angels, Heroes and Fools.
The album is an epic musical journey through fifty years of Corrie history, drawing on the humorous and dramatic plotlines and featuring current cast members playing some of the eccentric characters and iconic Weatherfield residents that generations of viewers have loved for five decades.
Starring Katherine Kelly (Becky McDonald), Kym Marsh (Michelle Connor) - who is singing the iconic part of Elsie Tanner, Rachel Leskovac (Natasha Blakeman) - singing the role of Bet Lynch, Brian Capron (Richard Hillman), Kevin Kennedy (Curly Watts), Helen Worth (Gail McIntyre), Alan Halsall (Tyrone), Andy Whyment (Kirk), Michelle Keegan (Tina), William Roach (Ken Barlow), Betty Driver (Betty Williams), David Nielson (Roy Cropper) and Julie Hesmondhalgh (Hayley Cropper) the album is a treat for Corrie fans new and old.
The album was written by the critically acclaimed composer Trisha Ward, and recorded at Abbey Road and Angel Studios with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Trisha said: "I've been a huge fan for many years and have always thought the storylines would lend themselves perfectly to a musical."
