Steve and Becky’s marriage suffered after they found out that Becky couldn’t have a child. Desperate measures were taken by paying Becky’s sister Kylie £15,000 for her son, Max. But Steve eventually exposed the scam to social services and Max was taken into care.
An already fragile marriage shattered and then Tracy revealed she was pregnant with Steve's twins, after a night of passion. Becky was devastated as Steve told her he was going to marry Tracy and be a dad again.
Becky bought into Streetcars and set up a meeting to discuss a contract for a hotel in town, where she met hotelier Danny Stratton. Tracy found out Steve was meeting Becky at the same hotel and stormed over, but the stress made Tracy ill and she miscarried. Aware that Steve might not marry her now, Tracy lied and told everyone that Becky had pushed her down the stairs, causing the miscarriage.
Becky had to expose Tracy’s lies and gained access to her medical records where the truth was laid bare. Becky gave Steve one more chance to believe in her innocence, but when he rejected her, she waited until the wedding reception in the Rovers to give Steve the evidence and ruin his marriage to Tracy for good.
Steve soon realised he wanted Becky back, but Becky had a received much better offer and flew off to Barbados with her new man Danny, and his little boy Billy.
