About Chemmy Alcott & Sean Rice

Chemmy Alcott

Occupation:Professional skier
Special Skills:Chemmy's at home in a chilly workplace

She may have tackled some of the toughest slopes in the world but sportswoman Chemmy Alcott’s having the time of her life learning a new skill for Dancing On Ice.

As Britain’s number one skier for a record seven years, Chemmy admits that she’s found a new passion in ice skating and it’s helping her rehabilitation since a recent skiing accident in which she hurt her leg.

Nevertheless, Chemmy is hopeful she’ll be able to make the transition from the slopes to performing a choreographed routine – thanks to her amazing dance moves.

“I love to dance, I'm very uninhibited," she says. "I'm one of these people who hits the clubs, dancing wildly, and you’re like, 'Good on her, let’s not copy it though’.”

We wonder what the judges will make of her moves?

Sean Rice

Sean skated competitively with his partner and wife Jodeyne Higgins for nine years. In 1993 they won the bronze medal at the Canadian Figure Skating Championships - a feat they repeated in 1995.

As well as pairs skating they also competed in the foursome category, winning the gold medal at the 1993 Canadian Championships alongside Jodi Barnes and Rob Williams.

Over the next few years they dominated Canadian foursomes, successfully defending their gold at the Canadian Championships in 1994 (with Scott MacDonald and Alison Purkiss), and again in 1995 and 1996.

In 1997 Sean retired form competition, and has skated in an array of professional shows, including Hollywood Live On Ice in 1997 and World Rhythms On Ice in 1999, both in Florida. He has also skated in shows in locations such as France, Hong Kong, and Germany.

Sean has skated extensively on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Ships, during which time he and Jodeyne broke the record for most bounces in a Headbanger - 14 in a ten second period.  They were also the first couple to land a triple twist and a triple salchow on a moving cruise ship!

2011 marked Sean’s debut series on Dancing On Ice. He was partnered with Angela Rippon, they were eliminated in Show 1.
