Oona King and Mark Hanretty
A member of the House of Lords, Baroness King of Bow is ready for her critics. The House of Lords member loves politics… and dancing! Oona is keen to show the audience that politicians can in fact be quite fun!
She's expecting to surprise viewers and claims, "The media portrays us politicians as evil devils, but in actual fact a lot of us are very down to earth."
Oona is a daredevil and likes to go fast on the ice: "I’m resilient; you could knock me down a zillion times and I’ll get back up again. I’m fairly fearless and I’m not scared of things so I think that might help me."
Surprisingly for someone whose professional life revolves around strict planning, Oona says, "I have no strategy! I just want to try and stay upright, I plan to learn as much as I can. As a politician we have plans and strategies, but I can’t plan for this."
Mark Hanretty was a national medallist in singles skating before switching disciplines to ice dance where he went on to win medals at various international events. He represented Great Britain at both the World and European championships.
As a professional skater, Mark recently won the Young Artist Showcase competition which is a worldwide choreography contest. This capped a year of successful choreography in which Mark worked with numerous British champions and international skaters.
Mark's skating also won the Virtual Skate Off in 2012 and he was named Young Coach of the Year by the British Ice Teacher's Association.
