Robin Cousins
| Occupation: | Head judge |
|---|---|
| Special Skills: | Free skating champion |
Robin won his first national title aged 12 as a novice - and by the age of 14 he was a junior champion poised to make his international debut. He rose to the top after winning Olympic and European gold medals in 1980 and was awarded an MBE by the Queen at Buckingham Palace in the same year.
Since the late 1990s, Robin has starred in, directed and choreographed numerous shows, such as The Wizard of Oz on Ice, Toy Story on Ice, Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express. He's also made the successful transfer from sport to stage, playing the Prince in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, Munkestrap in Cats and Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Show in the West End.
Over several years, Robin has been a regular guest presenter and commentator for BBC TV, for the European and World Figure Skating Championships as well as working on every Winter Olympics since Sarajevo in 1984.
Katarina Witt
| Occupation: | Figure skater |
|---|---|
| Special Skills: | Gold medal-winner, actress and writer |
Katarina Witt dominated the figure skating world for over a decade, winning a legion of medals and becoming one of the most successful figure skaters of all time. She won Olympic gold in both the 1984 Sarajevo and 1988 Calgary Olympics.
Katarina retains a record of four European Champion, six World Champion and eight National titles.
After retiring from competitive skating she starrred in, created and produced her own succesful skating shows, such as Divas on Ice, Katarina & Friends, Summernight on Ice as well as the German version of Dancing On Ice, which she co-produced and hosted.
She also made the leap into acting - bagging an Emmy for her title role in the 1990 film Carmen on Ice. She has acted alongside Robert DeNiro in the movie Ronin and gave her stage debut in the role of Amour in the Hugo von Hoffmannsthal play, Everyman.
Katarina has worked as a figure skating expert on the World Championships and Olympic Games for American and German TV since 1991. She's also written her biography, given tips and motivation for a healthy lifestyle in a fitness book and packed her years of experience as a young athlete into a book combining fiction and reality, based on her own life story.
Since skating is her true passion she is very excited to be a judge for the very first time on Dancing On Ice.
“I can’t wait to join the Dancing On Ice judging panel," Katarina tells us. "As well as offering support and constructive advice to this year's celebrity skaters, I’m also looking forward to working alongside my close friends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean."
