"It's set to be the most hard-fought semi final ever," said Christopher Dean in the run up to live night, but in a turn of events even the King of the Rink couldn't have predicted, a bout of sickness left Gareth Thomas unable to continue his Semi Final skates and Matt Lapinskas, Beth Tweddle and Luke Campbell to be named as the 2013 Dancing on Ice finalists!

"I could see that Gareth was swaying when he was standing next to me," Phillip Schofield said after the first round of skating, when the DOI medical team advised Gareth not to continue on the ice - which resulted in a cancellation of the public vote, and an automatic spot in the finals for the remaining three.

"Gareth is a great guy, he’s been like an older brother to me. I want to wish him all the best," said Matt as he, Beth and Luke all took to the ice for their last chance to perform the Save Me Skates they'd rehearsed. "Hopefully we've done Gareth proud!" said Beth.

And amidst everyone's concern for Gareth, thoughts turned to the final, "It feels really good [to be a finalist]. We’ve worked really hard. It’s going to be a challenging week," said Luke, "We’ve really got to up our game because we’re up against two really good skaters! We’ve got to bring our A-game!"
