"Ballet is the centre of all dancing," Jayne Torvill explained to us, adding, "All the movements you learn in basic ballet training, you can apply so much to ice skating." So, after the judges' comments last week about the lack of 'performance' in some of the routines, our contestants took the ballet studio to work on their moves - with one in particular finding plies and arabesques a slightly foreign experience.

"Rugby is a brutal strenth, but this is more of a hidden strength," former rugby player Gareth Thomas told us as we watched him bend and stretch at the barre. "I always find it difficult to be a bit more graceful and to do things a bit slower!" he laughed, before turning his attention to the task in hand: "You need to be as strong in the performance aspect as you do in the skating, so it's a case of trying to blend the two together."
