Two celebrities, one routine: the Dancing on Ice Duel is back. During this part of the competition, each contestant from week one skates against their leaderboard rival from week two - at the same time!

The two celebrities and their pro partners share the ice, performing a routine together, to be judged by the Ice Panel against each other, as Christopher Dean explains: "Within The Duel, what we're trying to do is be able to compare two skaters. It's a direct comparison. The Duels are like mini skate-offs. One of them will go through to next week, and one of them will go through to the public vote."

Head judge Robin Cousins continues, "What I love about The Duel is that you get direct comparisons skater to skater within the same piece of music. [We get to see] who attacks the music , who lets the music into [their hearts] and then brings it down the lens to the viewer."

So with the prize of each Duel performance being immunity from the public vote, who do the judges have tipped for success?

"I think [Matt and Gareth] will be a clash of the titans," says Jason Gardiner, "They're both very strong, and they both want it."

Ashley Roberts will be watching the ladies closely, telling us, "Anthea was in the skate-off so she’s really going to have to bounce back and show her strength. And [Beth and Oona] are both of our top two women technically, so I don’t know what’s going to happen there."

And Robin Cousins is looking forward to the Keith and Joe showdown: "It's comedy against comedy. But who can leave the comedy at the stage door and bring some real skating skills to the ice?"
