British couple Colette McPartland and Stephen Street were publicly shamed earlier this month when their two-year-old daughter Scarlett was taken into care in the Portguese capital of Lisbon, where they live.

According to police, the pair went drinking in the seaside town Carcavelos and neglected to watch their daughter, who was found playing by a busy road 100 yards away from the bar they were in.

Scarlett was taken into emergency care and the pair have since denied the police's account of what happened.

Now the toddler is back with her parents, the couple speak to Daybreak about how the experience has left them feeling "completely exonerated".

Colette tells us: “We’re very shocked and very hurt by all the things that have been said, they were completely untrue. And we still can’t believe it’s happened.”
