  • Alan Turner

    Alan used to be an inept, boozing and bullying manager for NY Estates at Home Farm, but has mellowed out over the years and is now an important member of the community.
    However he still likes to be in charge and has a tendency to be bossy. You're most likely to see him in the Woolpack putting the world to rights.

    History

    1982

    • Alan arrives in Emmerdale and becomes Estate Manager for NY Estates beating Joe Sugden

    1989

    • Alan goes up against Eric Pollard in the local election and narrowly wins by one vote

    1991

    • Alan buys the Woolpack from Amos securing his position at the centre of the community

    1993/4

    • When a  plane crashes into Emmerdale, Alan is the first to realise what's happened when he sees the wreckage in the field

    1994

    • Alan thought he had found happiness with Shirley Foster, but it was short lived as Shirley was shot dead by Reg Dawson during a raid on the post office

    1998

    • Alan punches Terry and publicly sacks him after he announces to the whole pub that he's slept with Tricia

    1999

    • Alan suffers a mild heart attack and then resolves to take life a little easier

    2004

    • Granddaughter Tricia is fatally injured in the New Year storm
    • A jealous Steph tries to kill Alan and take all his money

    2007

    • Alan arranges for Katherine Jenkins to perform at the village pageant

    2008

    • Lamenting the passing of the years, Pearl and Alan share a kiss

    2009

    • An old friend, Eddy Fox, arrives in the village and invites Alan to join him on a round-the-world trip
    • Alan gets his iconic trike!

    2010

    • Put rest to Val's suspicions that Eric had murdered his second wife Elizabeth 17 years earlier.

    2012

    • Finds an ulikely friend in Sean Spencer when he asks for help with a history assignment.
