  • Ashley Thomas

    Vicar Ashley and his wife Laurel are a much loved couple in the village and hold an important place in the community. Ashley is very much in love with Laurel and he and he’d do anything for her. The couple have had their fair share of  tragedy, including losing baby Daniel to cot death. Ashley's always very keen on trying to do the right thing, but is capable of admitting it when he gets things wrong.

    History

    1996

    • Ashley arrives as the new vicar of St. Mary’s and is straight away caught up in a Dingle scam

    1999

    • Bernice stuns Ashley when she claims they are soul mates and kisses him

    2000

    • Ashley and Bernice get married

    2002

    • Bernice leaves the village giving Ashley full custody of their daughter Gabrielle

    2004

    • After lots of flirting Ashley finally gets together with Laurel
    • As Laurel prepares to leave for volunteer work in Tanzania, Ashley proposes to her

    2005

    • Laurel returns and they marry

    2008

    • Baby Daniel is a tragic victim of cot death, leaving Ashley and Laurel devastated
    • After it’s discovered Daniel wasn’t their baby, a court decides that Arthur (with whom Daniel was swapped at the hospital) should be returned to his biological parents, the Thomases

    2009

    • Ashley welcomes his old girlfriend Sally when she turns up with her bags packed having left her husband
    • Laurel leaves Ashley when Sally continues to come between them
    • Is suspended from the church over alleged infidelity with Sally

    2010

    • Ashley is sexually assaulted by Sally
    • Ashley confesses all to Laurel

    2011

    • Ashley refuses to conduct Jackson's funeral
    • Ashley is devastated when he realises that Laurel has been having some sort of tryst with Marlon
    • As a test of their relationship, Ashley asks Laurel to renew their wedding vows
    • Ashley confronts Laurel about Marlon and she tells him the truth
