Aging lothario Rodney has always been a hit with the ladies. Never one for responsibility in his younger days, Rodney fathered three children to two women... that he knows about! However, having left his previous life behind and settled down in Emmerdale, Rodney has begun to realise the simple joy of family and friends - but as they grow up or move on he is becoming increasingly lonely.

2000
- After Ashley writes to Rodney without Bernice's knowledge, Rodney arrives in the village much to Diane's displeasure
2002
- Following a stressful time with work and family, Rodney suffers a heart attack
2004
- During a blazing row with Val she reveals that Rodney is Paul’s biological father. Rodney is shocked and Paul punches him
2006
- After Nicola lets him down for the final time Rodney gives her a £50,000 cheque to leave the village
- Rodney is devastated when all his property and assets are seized by Customs and Excise
2007
- Plays one of the ugly sisters in CinderBella
2009
- While running 'off the book' shoots at an empty Home Farm, Rodney has a brief affair with a client's wife. When her husband finds out he storms the B&B with a shotgun and in the scuffle accidentally shoots Jimmy in the backside
- Rodney gives Jimmy permission to marry Nicola, but suggests he get a ring before asking and to never call him 'dad' again!
- With the van hidden from view by a parked tractor Rodney doesn't realise until it is too late that he has forgotten to put the handbrake on
- Fearing that Rodney has designs on Diane, Val attempts to seduce him. When he finds out her plan he throws her out and has no sympathy when Pollard catches wind of her attempt
2010
- Feeling lonely and unwanted, Rodney resorts to the lonely hearts column. He is overjoyed when his advert is answered by an attractive young lady. Things soon turn sour however, when she turns out to be an old school friend of Nicola’s
- Is thrilled to bump into an old friend, Charlie, in Hotten
- Introduces Charlie to Diane
- Is devastated when Charlie romances Diane simply to get his hands on her money and leaves her bankrupt
2011
- Rodney supports Nicola when Jimmy loses his memory
2012
- Desperate for money, Rodney agrees to do some jobs for Carl, even taking speeding points on his license so that Carl won't lose his
- Rodney winds up in court when he is forced to take the blame for a hit and run for Carl. He starts blackmailing Carl for thousands of pounds. Carl is livid when Rodney escapes a sentence and still has a hold over him
