Jack's global adventure kicks off in New Zealand, and he wastes no time in getting his young recruits stuck into their first challenge - walking a slack line, or tightrope, suspended over a sickening drop high in the mountains. To even get to its location, after being dropped off by helicopter, the recruits face a gruelling uphill mountain slog. Two things soon become clear to Jack - he has an unfit bunch on his hands, and he's going to face a lot of moaning over the coming weeks.
Jack leads from the front, stepping out onto the slack line with a clean 500ft void under his wobbling feet. Now it’s the recruits' turn. Who will triumph, and who will bottle it? It turns into a real baptism of fire, with tears, naked terror, and heart-stopping adrenaline.
Their first adventure over, the recruits camp high in the wildnerness. Recovering drug addict Lisa and gap year Georgie get into an argument, and Jack has to step in to sort it out. Initially he's frustrated - but then remembers that his young recruits aren't much different to how he was back on Adrenaline Junkie 1.
Jack kick-starts his recruits' fitness programme by taking them on a expedition deeper into the mountains. There are more tears and tantrums, but Jack's mantra is simple - no pain, no gain. They need all their new fitness for the task Jack has lined up for them next - climbing up a sheer rock face, hanging off steel hoops drilled into it. Jack makes the recruits completely responsible for their own physical safety. If they don't do the ropework correctly, they could easily plunge to their deaths. It’s a severe test of nerve, and for self confessed Warrington Princess Becky, it pushes her to the very limit.
As the recruits near the end of their first week together, Jack has the ultimate team building exercise - a bungee jump off a bridge, but with a twist - they'll all be strapped to each other and jump together. It’s a bridge too far for some of the recruits, but for others, it’s the thrill of a lifetime. And just as the recruits think its all over, on that same day Jack has a final surprise lined up - a bungy out of a helicopter, 1000 feet up. It's an insane proposition, and the perfect wrap up for the start of their trip of a lifetime. Who will crack, and who will throw themselves headlong into it?
