UNICEF – the United Nations Children’s Fund - is the world’s leading organisation working specifically with children.
UNICEF exists to protect the world’s children whenever and wherever they are at risk.
One of UNICEF’s goals is to make sure every child has water that is clean and safe to drink – and the chance to go to school.
The organisation strives to protect children from violence and abuse, and from exploitation through child labour or trafficking. We also protect children in the midst of war and natural disasters, and provide emergency assistance.
UNICEF works to protect children against diseases such as measles, malaria and HIV/AIDS and we train nurses, doctors and health workers to do so as well. We do this not only in times of emergency, but every day through long-term development work.
UNICEF helps children to survive and thrive in more than 190 countries worldwide. We work with partners to provide emergency support and long-term development solutions. UNICEF is funded entirely by voluntary contributions.
