Antony Worrall Thompson opened his first restaurant in 1981 to critical acclaim and has gone on to enjoy a successful career in food, both on and off screen.
Born in Stratford-Upon-Avon, he studied Hotel and Catering Management at Westminster College before working in various establishments around Essex. In 1979 he was made head chef at Brinkley's Restaurant where he honed his techniques before opening Menage à Trois - the only restaurant in London that offered just starters and puddings on its menu.
In 1998 that his TV career took off, when he became resident studio chef and main presenter for BBC2's Food & Drink programme and he went on to appear on Ready Steady Cook, Saturday Kitchen and Daily Cooks Challenge.
Today he owns three grill restaurants in West London as well as two other eateries in Wiltshire and Oxon.
