Beef

The third most widely eaten meat in the world, beef is a versatile meat that can be cooked in a variety of ways. Even though the U.S., Brazil and China eat the most beef, it is still widely eaten in the UK. Although the recommendation is to eat less that 500g of cooked red meat weekly, it is still a good source of protein and iron. Beef can be cut into steaks, roasts and ribs, with some cuts being processed and ground, minced or used in sausages.
There are a wide range of recipes that use beef, in many different ways. From quick beef stir fry or enchiladas to slow cooked beef bourguignon and pastry wrapped wellington. Simply cooked beef steaks are also delicious when served with silky smooth sauces. Beef mince is great when made into burgers, meatballs or even spaghetti bolognese.
