Lemon

A small yellow citrus fruit, the lemon is native to Asia but has is now grown around the world. Lemons are used primarily for their juice, but also can be used for the pulp and zest. The juice is highly acidic which causes the sour taste. When using the juice for drinking, sugar should be added to reduce the level of tartness.

Lemon is a common ingredient in nearly every cuisine and used in a variety of ways. They can be added to desserts such as lemon meringue pie, lemon sponge or even lemon biscuits. Lemon juice and zest are also nice additions to chicken dishes, curries, pastas and salads.
