Banana

Although they are available in supermarkets and small shops around the country, bananas are a fruit originating in the southern tropics and Southeast Asia. They contain starch and the texture can either be firm or quite soft. They are high in vitamin B6 and contain vitamin C and potassium, so are very good for you.
The most well known variety would be those that are eaten raw or in desserts, but plantains are also a type of banana that needs to be cooked before eating. Plantains have a very firm texture and are often fried before eating, made either sweet or savoury. Bananas are a great in banana bread, banoffee pie or added in with other fruit for a tasty and healthy smoothie!
