These grissini al parmigiano are perfect for a party, especially when wrapped with Parma ham.
Ingredients
- 330 g11¾ oz strong white flour, plus extra for dusting
- 7 g¼ oz fast-action dried yeast
- 200 ml7 fl oz full fat milk, warm
- 100 g3½ oz freshly grated parmesan cheese
- 100 g3½ oz salted soft butter, plus extra for greasing
- 2 pinches of salt
- 2 pinches of freshly ground black pepper
- Parma ham, to serve
Method: How to make Classic Italian breadsticks
Lightly grease a baking tray and pre-heat the oven to 160oC / Gas Mark 3.
Mix the yeast and milk together in a medium bowl.
Mix the remaining ingredients together in a large bowl. Pour over the milk with the dissolved yeast and use your fingers to form a dough.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and roll out to a 5mm thickness.
Cut into lengths about 40cm long and 1cm wide.
Transfer the grissini onto the greased baking tray and cook in the middle of the oven for about 27 minutes until golden brown.
Serve warm or allow them to cool on a wire rack and then wrap each breadstick with a slice of Parma ham.
