The perfect omelette

A light and fluffy plain omelette is the perfect one and here's how to do it.

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • Butter to fry
  • Herbs and/or ingredients for a filling if desired

Pre-fry any ingredients you might want to use for a filling.

Crack the eggs into a bowl and lightly whisk them with a fork. Season with salt and pepper. Add any herbs you might want to flavour the omelette.

Melt the butter in the pan until foaming but not smoking.

Add the whisked egg to the pan, keeping it moving with a fork or non-stick-friendly implement. Make sure to bring the omelette from the outside in. When the omelette is about to set, make it into the desired shape.

Add the filling if you're having one to the middle of the omelette.

Tip the pan away from you and tap gently to loosen the omelette. Fold the top half over the filling to make a semi-circle.

Tip the omelette onto the plate and serve.
