Mark Webber said he would not feel any guilt about winning the Brazilian Grand Prix due to a problem for his Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel as he had coped with more than enough misfortune in his career.
Webber finally ended his long victory drought with his Interlagos triumph, which was helped by Vettel slowing from the lead with gearbox issues.
"Seb did a great lap for pole yesterday, but today I had a little bit of the rub of the green," said Webber.
"It would have been nice to have a race with Sebastian all the way the through, but he had a little bit of a problem.
"It's a win which I'll take for sure because I had enough bad luck, or whatever you want to call it, and that's how motorsport goes sometimes."
He admitted that the win - his first since Hungary last August - was a weight off his shoulders.
"It's a very important win for me and good for the team to finish on a high," said Webber.
After a season of fighting just to get on the podium, Webber added that it had been refreshing to be able to control a race from the front.
"I enjoyed the last few laps, it's always nice when you can finally pit a bit later than people and cover people off and all that sort of thing," he said.
"That was a nice way to finish."
The result allowed Webber to pass Fernando Alonso for third in the drivers' championship as the Spaniard could only finish fourth.
