Inverdale describes Roland Garros's 'rebellious' atmosphere
ITV's French Open presenter John Inverdale gave an exclusive interview to ITV.com in which he paints a vivid picture of a day at the tennis at Roland Garros.
Asked what to expect of the Paris crowds, Inverdale said: "The French think nothing of spending an entire five-set match on the phone! They break off only occasionally to applaud or jeer or whistle."
"They are fiercely partisan," he added. "When you're playing against Tsonga you're fighting against an extra element as well.
"When a French player gets to the latter stages of the French Open, boy are they passionate."
