You think they’re great, but do they feel the same? Here, match.com’s resident dating expert Kate Taylor reveals the sure-fire signs that somebody has a crush on you.
1. Their face “opens up” when they look at you
Infatuated body language is all about openness – raised eyebrows, dilated pupils, parted lips. Check out their face when you’re chatting together and if you see these signs, move in. If they squint their eyes slightly, or press their lips together, reverse, reverse! That means they’re uncomfortable getting closer.
2. They find really quite lame excuses to contact you
When someone digs deep to find a reason to get in touch – from telling you they’ve just heard your favourite song on the radio, through to just texting “Good Morning,” – they want you.
3. They’re happy doing anything with you
When someone would happily come over to watch your favourite TV show, do your DIY, or just hang out on your sofa, feel confident – you’re The One. People who don’t find you devastatingly hot will always be more interested in the date activity than the chance to spend time with you.
4. They remember things you’ve told them
We remember more when there’s an emotional connection, so smitten-kittens will rarely forget anything you say.
5. You don’t have to wait to hear from them
match.com has found that people interested in a second date with a partner will usually get in touch within 36 hours of the first date. They might wait a day to avoid scaring you off, but they’d never wait a week.
6. They don’t talk about finding other people attractive
When you’re together, they’re blind to the charms of anyone else. You don’t catch them checking out the hot waiter or waitress, they don’t swoon at the stars on the cinema screen. You’ve neutered them.
7. Their feet point towards you
This always works – people’s feet point towards what they’re most interested in. Check out their toes. If they’re facing you: boom! If they’re pointing out the door: taxi!
8. They self-groom when you’re together
Patting their hair, adjusting their socks, straightening their tie, smoothing their skirt, licking their lips – that fidgety person fancies you. When we’re in an attractive presence, we are constantly making sure we look our best.
9. Their friends have heard all about you
When you meet someone’s friends and they know your job, your middle name, your first pet, it’s a sure sign you have come up in conversation, a LOT. Look for other friend clues too, like their nudging and teasing your date when you’re around.
10. They play with their mouth
When we fancy someone, blood rushes to our mouth, and we unconsciously touch our lips more than we normally would. When you see this sign, it means they want to kiss you. What are you waiting for?
