On Twitter he said: I'd like to wish the team all the best for the future, especially whoever takes over from me."

Zayn Malik 'was always the most reluctant'

Since they were on the show they literally haven’t had six months to be kids.

A statement from One Direction has announced that Zayn Malik has left the band to have 'time out of the spotlight'. In a statement on Facebook he said: "My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band.

The charity ChildLine has warned that Zayn's departure could be distressing for many fans and are urging parents to contact them if they are concerned. We spoke to former pop star and X Factor mentor Sinitta, who knew Zayn well, she said: "I didn’t know that he was going to be leaving, I knew that there were troubles."
