In his first TV interview since returning from home from France, Susanna Reid speaks exclusively to D-Day veteran Bernard Jordan.
He sparked a police search after vanishing from his care home and travelling to Normandy to honour fallen comrades last week. The Ex-Royal Navy officer carried out his great escape after being told he could not make the pilgrimage to 70th anniversary commemorations.
Mr Jordan was apparently informed he could not attend the event as there were no places left on an organised trip. So, without telling staff, he drew up his own battle plan. Slipping a grey mac over a jacket adorned with medals, he marched out of The Pines in Hove, East Sussex, on Thursday and slipped aboard a coach with other veterans.
