Veganism might become a religion - and people are outraged
Veganism should be respected in the same way as a religion, that's according to newspaper columnist Liz Jones.
The writer claims that it should have the same considerations as a religion as it prevents followers from consuming certain foods, as Muslims abstain from alcohol and Jewish people don't eat pork.
Speaking to Good Morning Britain, she justified the claim by stating that vegans should receive special considerations as they are bombarded with images of meat on a daily basis. The journalist claimed that she finds the images particularly offensive during the festive period when images of dead animals are used as part of festive celebrations.
It comes as animal rights group PETA announces a series of phrases it would like banned in a bit to promote greater equality to animals. Under the proposal, traditional phrases like "Kill two birds with one stone" would be scrapped, their replacement would be more vegan-friendly.
