Eighteen-year-old Ahmed Hassan has been found guilty of attempted murder over the Parsons Green Tube bombing which injured around 30 people.
The Iraqi-born teenager set off the homemade device on a crowded rush-hour train on 15 September last year.
A fireball swept through the carriage, burning passengers’ skin, hair and clothing when the device, concealed in a supermarket carrier bag, detonated.
Hassan was living with foster parents at a home in Sunbury, near Heathrow Airport, at the time of the bombing. He was studying media at college and had ambitions to become a wildlife photographer, following in the footsteps of renowned naturalist David Attenborough.
During the trial, he told the court that he did not intend to cause an explosion - he only wanted to spark a fire. But the prosecution argued that it was a "matter of luck" that a larger explosion had not occurred.
