  1. Extremely cold temperatures are continuing to affect parts of the country with severe frost, ice and some freezing fog patches. The recent hazardous conditions has seen hundreds of schools close, thousands left without power and several flights delayed. The Met Office warnings for ice has been extended until 11am this morning.

  2. Tributes have come flooding in for the much-loved presenter Keith Chegwin, who died at the age of 60 at his home on Monday morning. His wife and co-star Maggie Philbin, hailed Keith as a “one-off” and other former work colleagues and fans including Ricky Gervais, Chris Evans, Frank Bruno and many more paid their respects to the former TV presenter.

  3. Damian Green will “keep his job” after the investigation into sexual misconduct allegations, according to ITV’s Political Editor Robert Peston’s sources. The First Secretary Damian Green was alleged to have porn on his House of Commons computer and accused of behaving inappropriately with journalist Kate Maltby. Authoritative sources said “Damian won’t have to resign” and confirmation of Mr Green’s stay “is expected on Wednesday”.

  4. Five people have been arrested in connection to a fire in a house in Greater Manchester which lead to the death three children. A woman and three men are being held on suspicion of murder, and a fifth man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

  1. An explosion that injured four people and sparked mass evacuations during rush hour in central Manhattan was an attempted terror attack, New York City's Mayor has said. The city's police commissioner James O'Neill named the suspect in the explosion as 27-year-old Akayed Ullah, who has since been taken into custody.

  2. Three women have gone on live television today to detail their separate alleged incidents of sexual harassment with Donald Trump. Jessica Leeds, Samantha Holvey, and Rachel Crooks accused the President of formerly groping, kissing and humiliating them and have demanded a congressional inquiry into accusations made agains him.

  3. Three children have died and a three year old is said to be in critical condition after a house fire broke out in Salford. A 14-year-old girl was declared dead at the scene, Greater Manchester Police said, while an eight-year-old boy and seven-year-old girl died later in hospital. The blaze is being treated as suspicious and a murder inquiry is under way.

Keith Chegwin has died at the age of 60 after battling a long lung illness, his family have said in a statement.

The former Cheggers Play Pop presenter and Big Breakfast reporter died at home on Monday morning.

His family said: "We are heartbroken to share the news that Keith Chegwin sadly passed away following a long-term battle with a progressive lung condition, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, which rapidly worsened towards the end of this year.

Bilal 'Kelvin' Fawaz is an elite boxer who has represented England six times - but he's currently facing deportation to Nigeria after living in the UK since he was 14.

Brought here illegally by an 'uncle' with the promise of a better life, he says he was treated "like a slave" before he ran away from the home he was living in and taken into care.

Despite going through an early turbulent period, he discovered boxing and became a UK champion. But on 29 November he was arrested and the 29-year-old now faces deportation to Nigeria, where he has no family, friends or status.

Celeb charity appeals branded 'poverty porn'

Is it right for celebrities to front charity ad campaigns or is it distasteful and completely out of touch with reality?

A charity watchdog has slammed some charity video appeals as ‘poverty porn’. They singled out one Comic Relief video featuring pop star Ed Sheeran who met a street boy in Liberia and offered to pay for his housing.

Asked what her plans were after taking the reality show crown, she told Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid: “I want to do what you guys do – I want to try it! But I mean, who knows! I’m just completely and utterly overwhelmed.”
