Organisation Details:         http://www.frostediceinc.com/

Story:

Ricky McCalla’s professional dancing career was cut short when he was shot in the neck during an unprovoked and violent carjacking in 2005. Determined not to let his situation defeat him, he decided he wanted to turn his experience into something positive by becoming a mentor to young people at risk of getting involved in the same sort of crime that devastated his own life. Ricky began channelling his energies into a youth project, getting young people off the streets and providing them with music skills and opportunities.

Frosted Ice Inc encourages young people, who are at risk of offending, to visit the studio and work on their own music projects. As well as a drop-in centre and regular music workshops Frosted Ice Inc also runs a 10-week programme for local young people - five weeks devoted to music production, and the remainder covering training in film and editing. The studio has helped around 300 vulnerable youngsters to learn more about the music industry.

Quiz player: Joanna Bowen, a trainee Primary School Teacher from South Norwood, London
