Hugo was lowered into the 'Drown and out' chamber. On each side were hatches, which each contained one all-important star. Hugo had to open the hatches and retrieve the stars - with water pouring out of them and filling the chamber.
Oh, and did we mention that joining him in the chamber were various water-dwelling beasties including yabbies, water spiders, eels and mud crabs?!
Hugo had ten minutes to find all eight stars.
Hugo told Ant and Dec: “I’m really regretting choosing myself to do it. My heart's racing badly. Are there spiders already in there?”
At thr sound of the klaxon, the chamber began to fill with water. He opened the first hatch and was joined in the tank by eels - but he found the first star. Diving underwater and feeling around on the ground for the next couple of stars, he found only one exclaiming: “This is disgusting.”
(We thought he was embracing the disgusting?)
With time ticking he opened the fourth hatch and found another star - and retrieved all the stars hidden in the next four hatches. With a minute left he attempted to go back and find the elusive eighth star. After several attempts he finally managed to retrieve the star - winning a clean sweep of eight meals for camp.
After the Trial Hugo said, “It was seeing those spiders in the beginning... I'm so pleased I did that. I got the same as David!”
Hayemaker, make way for Hugomaker!
