Did you really think that the Celebrities were going to be eased into their new rough-and-ready lifestyles?
Of course not! Our Celebrities were in for a seashore shocker when their jungle journey finally began
This series, the Celebrities were well and truly dumped! Dressed in their designer finery, the new jungle folk faced the ultimate race inland through the scrubland of the East Coast of Australia.
Barren and snake infested, this sinister shores soon became their first challenge. Life really can be a real beach, sometimes.
Having schmoozed over a fruit cocktail earlier in the day, both teams were unceremoniously handed a crate. Each of these crates contained a pair of walking boots for every celebrity, a navigation system and instructions for their first task; to race across the Island, to find a helicopter (a handy commodity when stranded!), which would then whisk them back to the safe, dry land of luxury that they know so well.
But there’ll be little luxury for our losers a, it will be a case of setting up tent for the night and calling the Island their temporary Beach & Breakfast.
Shocked at the prospect ahead, the two teams set about preparing for the mammoth mission – desperate to ensure that they were the ones with a comfortable bed free of bugs that night.
Snake Rock opted to put Pussycat Doll Ashley in charge of the voyage. Relishing her challenge, she took full control. A bewildered Eric jeered, 'It’s not everyday you get lead in the bush by a blonde!'
For Croc Creek, boxer David Haye became boss and set about putting his team through their paces.
The sportsman continued to stride through the treacherous terrain, whilst his fellow teammates struggled to keep up to speed. An exhausted Helen gasped, 'We’re going quite fast, I’m not really a sporty kind of person but am trying my best!'
Linda also struggled to keep up with a determined David, saying 'I’m absolutely exhausted! I hope I’m not the one keeping them back.'
But how would a champion boxer fare if he were to lose his first challenge? Or could it be Snake Rock who find themselves spending their first night under the stars? (Not to mention the snakes!)
Find out tonight, 9pm on ITV1.
