Discover the story behind Frobisher Bay

When Elizabethan adventurer Martin Frobisher sailed into town in 1576, it was the first contact between Brits and Inuits. Frobisher had a burning ambition to discover a new trade route to China but he was easily distracted. Soon after he landed he discovered a glittering black rock he believed contained gold. All thoughts of the passage were forgotten. When he returned two years later, he brought 15 ships and 350 Cornish miners. To this day it remains the largest Arctic expedition in history.
