Paul Heiney is joined by historian Bettany Hughes, horticulturalist Rachel de Thame and wild food expert Mike Robinson, each using their specialist knowledge to explore a new dimension of the places they visit.
Countrywise returns to ITV1 at 8pm on Tuesday 5th April 2011.
In the first show of the new series, Countrywise visits Dorset's stunning Jurassic coastline, classed as one of the natural wonders of the world. The team discovers how the landscape has shaped the lives of those who live there, including a family who've been fishing along the coast for three centuries, as well as inspiring one of the world’s greatest novelists, Thomas Hardy.
