This Morning - Dominic Cooper

Dominic Cooper

Dominic Cooper

He's got more talent than you could shake a stick at and has starred alongside true A-lister greats including Colin Firth, Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Keira Knightley.

Now hunky heart-throb Dominic Cooper is starring opposite Dame Helen Mirren in the passionate play, Phedre, which ends in disaster.

The play is set at the royal court in Troezen, on the Peloponnesus coast in Southern Greece. Phedre (Helen Mirren) is married to the King of Athens, Theseus. In the absence of her royal husband, Phedre becomes consumed by an illicit but overpowering passion for her stepson Hippolytus (Dominic Cooper).

In this version of the play Hippolytus falls in love with the daughter of his father's enemies, Dominic said, "He doesn't understand his feelings for the girl and then he finds that his stepmother is besotted with him. He hears his father is dead, then that he is alive. Each scene brings another wave of anxious misunderstanding."

The production runs from June 11-August 27 at the Lyttelton Theatre in London, before moving on to runs in Greece and Washington DC.
