The internationally acclaimed hit musical Jersey boys tells the remarkable rise to stardom of one of the most successful bands in pop music history; the Four Seasons.
The show features the bands worldwide hits, including: 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You,' 'Oh What A Night,' 'Walk Like A Man,' 'Bye Bye Baby,' 'Sherry,' and 'Big Girls Don't Cry.'
Story of the four seasons
Frank Valli along with Tommy DeVito performed as a quartet with two other friends under different names between 1954 and 1956 before they settled on the title; The Four Lovers.
By 1960 the band was joined by Bob Gaudio and Nick Massi and the following year renamed themselves; The Four Seasons, after the name of a bowling alley that they auditioned to be a lounge band for. Their first album was released in 1962 and the first single from the album; Sherry, went straight to number one.
After several million selling hits, the band were dumped by their record company who had filed for bankruptcy but were quickly signed up by another label. 1965 saw Nick Massi leave the band and they went on to perform under numerous other names and racked up more hit singles throughout the rest of the decade.
By 1969 the bands popularity had faltered after the rise in interest in rockier bands and soul music and they signed to Motown Records which did not prove to be a success and in 1974 the band and record label had parted ways. In 1975 they signed with Warner Records and record sales exploded. After the disco era of the 70's, the bands popularity again plummeted but they remained a popular touring act. They have sold over 100 million records worldwide.
