Priscilla Queen Of The Desert - The Musical

Based on the Oscar award-winning film 'The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert' in 1984 starring Hugo Weaving, Guy Pearce and Terence Stamp, Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical tells the story of Mitzi (Jason Donovan), a drag queen in a glamorous Sydney based performing trio who accepts an offer to perform at a casino in Alice Springs; a remote town in the Australian outback.

After persuading his friends and fellow performers, Bernadette Bassenger (Tony Sheldon); a recently bereaved transsexual woman and Adam Whitley, aka. Felicia Jollygoodfellow (Oliver Thornton); an irritating, flamboyant and obnoxious drag queen, to join him, the three set out for Alice Springs in a large tour bus which is christened Priscilla.

However, along the way the trio encounter the anti attitudes of rural Australia, sexual violence, and the problems of vehicle breakdowns. They are each on their own personal journey of discovery, but despite the setbacks they put on a show unlike anything the locals have ever seen before.

The musical’s history: Priscilla Queen Of The Desert - The Musical made its world premiere in Sydney in October 2006 and has subsequently wowed audiences and critics alike in Melbourne and New Zealand to become the most successful Australian musical of all time.
