Lower fat burger and chips

For the burger
1 beef tomato
1 bunch basil
500g lean minced beef
1 small onion chopped finely and sauteed
garlic chopped and sauteed with onion
1 whole meal sourdough
1 shallot
1 red onion
balsamic vinegar
1 tsp brown sugar
1 baby gem lettuce

For the oven chips
2 large chip potatoes
olive oil

Method for burgers

  1. 1. Mix the beef with the cooked onion and garlic season well.
  2. 2. Mould into burger shaped and leave to rest in the fridge.
  3. 3. Chop the red onion and shallot finely and saute with out any colour until cooked.
  4. 4. Season and deglaze with the balsamic and add the brown sugar to give a red onion compote.
  5. 5. When ready grill the burger with a touch of olive oil.
  6. 6. Grill the sour dough with olive oil.
  7. 7. Place baby gen leaves sliced tomato onion compote and finish with the burger on top of sour dough.


Method for oven chips

  1. 1. Wash the potatoes and dry thoroughly.
  2. 2. Cut into wedges with skin on and dry.
  3. 3. Cover with olive oil and salt and place in a hot oven for 30 minutes until cooked.
  4. 4. When ready sprinkle with a touch of salt and chili powder serve immediately.
