About me
I qualified as a doctor in 1968 and have worked as a GP in South Manchester ever since.
In the early 1970s I became interested in treating patients who smoked, and am now recognised as an international expert in smoking cessation and nicotine addiction.
I have lectured on this subject in more than 27 countries around the world, making numerous media appearances.
I believe that my prominent position in the media is an ideal platform for me to educate millions of people on health issues and hopefully save lives.
As well as my daily GP work and television appearances, I have written extensively on health and medical issues over the past 30 years, notably on the subject of quitting smoking, babies, and young children.
I have four children; two boys and two girls with my wife Monica, who is a midwife.
