Actress Hermione continues her successful career in BBC spy drama Spooks.
After playing Karen Marsden in the ITV comedy-drama Cold Feet for over five years, Hermione Norris's career has gone from strength to strength. As if starring in one television institution wasn't enough, in 2005 she went on to land a role in another TV triumph, Spooks.
Hermione talks to Phil and Holly ahead of the eighth series of the critically acclaimed drama - which promises to be its most explosive season yet!
Created by writer David Wolstencroft, Spooks has been consistently hailed as a benchmark for modern British drama. Hermione says: "Spooks is a show about MI5 and a group of spies. Key issues which surround the show are global politics, economics and other current issues. It is definitely a show that pushes the boundaries."
Hermione plays the role of Ros Myers, an MI6 agent who was transferred into MI5. She has the Secret Service in her blood, as her father was an entrepreneur with high-ranking political links. She says: "Being part of Spooks is great. It has been so popular, and to be part of something like that is a dream for most actors."
Series eight of Spooks began filming in March 2009, and is set to be the most explosive series yet; as it promises to take characters into new depths. Hermione is keeping details of the series very secret so not to spoil it, but she does say: "From the eight episodes of the next series, you can expect a few surprises, they are really not pulling any punches with this one!.”
Hermione is married to Wire in the Blood writer Simon Wheeler, and gave birth to their second child earlier this year. She says: "My children are the best things in my world. I have a five-year-old boy, Wilf, and a baby girl called Hero, and they bring me so much joy."
Hermione has been working non-stop for four years. Therefore she is now looking forward to a bit of time off and spending some quality time with her family. "I have recently just had my first holiday in four years and it was bliss."
