Makeover your make-up bag

Have you been stuck in a make-up time warp? It’s time to clean up & start afresh!

Last week we asked our viewers to report these crimes against cosmetics, to grass up their nearest and dearest and dob in those makeup disasters!

Our super celebrity make-up artist, Sarah Burrows picked three of the worst offenders who join us to have their make-up interrogated and up-dated.

Gail Fitton
Gail (50) nominated herself, being a self-confessed 'stick in the mud' when it comes to changing her look.
Gail says: "I must confess I have been applying my makeup in the same way for the last 30 years and have never really changed the colours that I use."

Top tips for a magnificent mature make-up

  • As we get older avoid hard blacks as they can be very ageing. Opt instead for muted tones like chocolate or warm plums.
  • Again as we age steer clear of glittery and shiny products. These emphasise lines and are way too harsh. Go for a slight sheen instead.
  • When working on eye brows find a colour as near to your hair shade as possible. Keep brow pencil in the fridge on hot days to keep them hard and keep sharpened for a defined point.
  • Cream blush is ideal for older skin as it adds life and a dewy finish. Pat cream on with finger tips to the apples of your cheeks and blend well.
  • Peach or cream liner applied to the inner rim of your lash line always opens up the eye and extends the whites.
  • Hooded eyes are always hard to work with. Don't over complicate eye make up. Also soften the lid to brow ratio with a little bronzer.
