It's been revealed that girls as young as 13 are being given contraceptive implants at school without their parents' knowledge.

The implants, which nurses insert into the arm, temporarily prevent pregnancy by releasing hormones into the blood. Now under strict patient confidentiality rules, staff are banned from seeking the permission of parents beforehand and this has caused outrage from both MPs and parents who say the approach violates parents rights to protect their children.

However, Natika Hall of the Family Planning Association has said that it's vital to tackle teen pregnancy in the UK which is amongst the highest in Europe.

So is it okay to give a teenager contraceptive implants behind their parents backs? How would you feel if you found out your teenager had been given one without your knowledge? Do you think it's an effective way to tackle teen pregnancy?
