James Tanner gives a sneak peek into his home life and his family restaurant.
James Tanner's TV career began in 2001 on TV show Food Network Daily. The following year he entered and won the Ready Steady Cook national competition to find a new regular chef.
He's since worked on Saturday Kitchen, Good Food Live and This Morning.
The third of four brothers, James was brought up in Kent and was taught to cook by his mother. He studied hotel management and worked in several well-known restaurants until he was invited by the Roux brothers to move to the US and work in upstate New York, where he was chef de partie at the Lake Placid Lodge.
He was promoted to junior sous chef and then transferred to the prestigious Point. Back in the UK, he worked at a two star Michelin restaurant, under chef Martin Blunos, and then head chef at Right on the Green in Kent.
In 1999, James and his brother Chris opened the Tanner Restaurant and more recently the Barbican Kitchen, both in Plymouth.
