We meet the mother and daughter who have lost five stone in twelve weeks after being hypnotised into thinking they had gastric bands.

Dr Hilary Says:

Hypnosis can be a powerful tool in weight loss, But you must be motivated and you must make a commitment to weight loss and really making a difference.

Hypnosis focuses the mind and gets people motivated. So alongside a healthy diet and exercise it can make a difference.

When it comes to psychological therapies, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can also be affective.

CBT can help patients to understand why they over-eat and to recognise their behaviour when it comes to  eating. Patients learn not to use food as a weapon or an emotional crutch. Although CBT is available on the NHS it's difficult to get referred as doctor’s tend to use it as a treatment for depression.
