Approximately 8000 British female soldiers have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Ten years on we talk to two female ex-army officers who served in Iraq to find out what it was really like and what they think about it all now.

The war in Iraq began on March 19, 2003. It is now the longest military conflict to involve the United States other than the Vietnam War.

The percentage of women in the Services has been rising over the past decade. They currently account for 9.7% of our Armed Forces, up from 8% in 2000, with a total of 17,370 women out of 179,800.
