Our very own showbiz reporter Dan Wootton tells us how he landed the gig of letting all of our Lorraine viewers in on the juiciest showbiz gossip...

I am a showbiz reporter for Daybreak and have my dream job, regularly travelling the world to interview the biggest stars in showbiz like Madonna, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, Simon Cowell and Kylie Minogue.

My passion is breaking the biggest news in the entertainment world, for which I am a former winner of the British Press Award for showbiz reporter of the year.

My not-so-early-in-the-morning jobs are as a columnist at the Daily Mail newspaper and the Editor at Large at Now Magazine, where I have weekly interview with A-list stars. I am also a regular contributor to BBC Radio Five Live.

I’m 29-years-old and was born and bred in New Zealand, where I began my career as a presenter on the daily live show Good Morning and reporter at broadsheet newspaper The Dominion Post.

I moved here in 2005 to pursue my goals in journalism, but I regularly return Down Under to visit my mum, dad, sister and grandma.

Most days I can also be found on Twitter, which I admit to being slightly addicted to. Find me @danwootton.

What do you most enjoy about working on Daybreak/Lorraine?
Getting to be at the forefront of the biggest showbiz and entertainment stories in the world and getting to interview the biggest stars in the world.

Who would you most like to meet/interview that you haven't already?
Beyonce and Jay Z together. I’m fascinated with their relationship. But it will probably never happen because they are, quite wisely, private people.

Who is the most memorable celebrity/personality you have ever met and why?
It has to be Madonna, who I exclusively interviewed for Daybreak and Lorraine in May 2012. She is without doubt the biggest star in the world now and an iconic figure, so I was intrigued to meet her. She couldn’t have treated me any better and was fascinating to meet.

If you weren't a presenter/showbiz expert what would you be doing as a job?
I was originally going to train as a lawyer so probably that.

Are you a good morning person?
Not at all! I’m always a mess in the morning, as the lovely ladies in the Daybreak make-up know too well.

Who would you choose to play you in a film version of your life?
People used to say I looked like a slightly more rotund Ben Stiller, so I’ll go with him!

Tell us one fact about yourself that we'd be surprised to learn?

I’ve got a passion for American politics!
