Amber warning issued for Wales and southern England

An amber "be prepared" warning has been issued by the Met Office for Wales, South West England, London and the South East as Storm Imogen sweeps into the UK.

Disruption to travel, potential damage to trees and buildings, and interruption to power supplies is to be expected.

A total of 147 alerts and 45 warnings are in place for England and Wales.

Storm Imogen: 'Phenomenal' sea condition warning on south west coasts

The Met Office has issued a rare "phenomenal" sea condition warning for the south west coast, with Force 10 winds and 46ft (14m) waves expected.

The Met Office warning covers coastal waters from Lyme Regis to Lands end and warns of "very rough or high" seas that become "very high in west then phenomenal for a time later near the Isles of Scilly".

Storm Imogen: Severe delays on cross-channel ferries

P&O cross-channel ferries on the Dover-to-Calais route are subject to "severe delays" because of poor weather conditions brought about by Storm Imogen.

The company is urging passengers to check-in as normal for pre-booked crossings.
