One Direction's Liam Payne thanks 'hero' fans for support

One Direction band member Liam Payne has thanked the group's "hero" fans for their support in the wake of Zayn Malik's departure.

The singer also appeared to quash rumours of an imminent split by tweeting "thanks for not thinking it's finished".

He tweeted:

A repeat of the current coalition government would be preferred to a Labour-SNP alliance in the event of a hung parliament, a new ITV News/Daily Mail poll indicates.

When presented with a choice between the two, 45% said they would prefer the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats to join forces again, compared to a third who preferred the prospect of a deal between Ed Miliband and Nicola Sturgeon.

There was also hope for the smaller parties in the Comres study, which found that 63% disagreed with the idea that a vote for a party other than the Conservatives or Labour was "wasted".

Furthermore, five in six members of the public (85%) said they would vote for the party that they most want to see in government.

The Comres poll interviewed 1,005 adults across Britain between 28 and 29 March 2015.
