Rapper Snoop Dogg was stopped by police with $422,000 in cash, around £270,000, in his Louis Vuitton luggage as he prepared to board a private jet.

His lawyer, Andrea Parisi, said the 43 year old was about to board a flight to Britain from southern Italy on Friday when he was stopped.

Mr Parisi said the money came from concerts the rapper had performed around Europe.

Half of the cash was given back to Snoop Dogg, while the other half is being held by Italian authorities until a fine is determined.

In the European Union, the maximum amount of undeclared cash someone can take on board a plane is around £7,000.
