A rocket fired from Gaza has hit a civilian home in Hof Ashkelon, Israel's military claims.

Drunk man fined for sneaking onto empty plane

A man has appeared in court after he got drunk and managed to sneak onto an empty plane at Birmingham Airport.

Lee Jezard from Worcester had missed his flight to Ibiza last month for a lads holiday with his friends.

The 22-year-old crawled along the conveyor behind the check-in desks until he ended up on the airfield.

He was later discovered in the toilet by cleaners and he claimed to be the co-pilot.

He was ordered to pay a fine, compensation and costs totalling £621 and has since lost his job as duty manager at a hotel.

Reports of Brit involvement in attack video 'concerning'

Reports claiming a UK national was involved in the apparent beheading of a US journalist is "concerning", the shadow foreign secretary has said.

The horrific footage of the killing of James Foley has shocked and outraged the world. Suggestions that the attack may have been carried out by a UK national are particularly concerning and the Government must now work with international partners to establish the facts and uncover any possible information about the perpetrator.

Iraq troubled by reports of Islamist militant oil revenues

The Iraqi government has said it is troubled by reports that Islamic State fighters are smuggling seized oil to export markets to generate revenue.

It warned buyers that any oil sales that are not authorised by the Ministry of Oil could be used to finance terrorist activity, and may be subject to sanctions.

Islamic State has seized five oil fields in the north since it arrived in June from Syria.

Journalist pays tribute to 'extraordinarily brave' Foley

A journalist who spent months with James Foley in Syria has paid tribute to the "extraordinarily brave" 40-year-old.

Video released by the Islamic State group apparently shows Foley being beheaded by a masked militant, who speaks with a British accent.

“Jim Foley was one of the kindest people I’ve met, a dedicated journalist and also extraordinarily brave," Times Correspondent Tom Coghlan said.

"I last saw him on the Syrian border in August 2012 a few months before he was kidnapped. He was happy and typically generous of spirit. That’s how I remember him.

"What can one say and think of the people who could do this?”

Twitter to suspend users who share 'beheading' images

Twitter users who post graphic images of the apparent beheading of US journalist James Foley will be suspended, the organisation's chief executive announced.

The Islamic State released a video entitled "A message to America" appearing to show the execution of the 40-year-old last night.

Dick Costolo said Twitter had already suspended accounts showing the images.
