Pictures of a rare trip by Syria's president Bashas al-Assad outside Damascus have been posted on social media site Instagram.

Mr Assad was visiting the Mar Saks Greek Orthodox monastery in the Christian town of Maaloula, according to state media.

Archbishop calls for Christians to protect environment

The Archbishop of Wales, Dr Barry Morgan has called on people to make changes to their way of life to help protect the environment for future generations.

In his Easter sermon at Llandaff Cathedral this morning, Dr Morgan said Christians needed to take climate change and its impact seriously and react, rather than burying their heads in the sand.

Malaysia considers death certificates for MH370 missing

The Malaysian government is considering issuing death certificates for passengers on the missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370.

Officials are also drawing up plans to give financial assistance to bereaved families, but has yet to decide how much they might receive.

"When we talk about financial assistance, we have to be fair with everybody," said Deputy Foreign Minister Hamzah Zainudin, head of the next of kin committee for the missing flight.

First church service held at Moorland since floods

A service is being held in a Somerset parish church for the first time since massive floods devastated the area. Hundreds of people are expected to gather in Moorland this afternoon to mark Easter Sunday. It's around 3 months since homes were flooded and for many the clean up continues.

Burst water main floods homes and roads

Several homes and roads were flooded this morning in West Sussex after a water main burst.

Homes at Scory Close in the Bewbush area of Crawley were worst affected with muddy water entering many properties.

Sussex police closed the road, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were in attendance from approximately 7am and the water board turned off the supply. Most of the water has now drained away, but residents are now assessing the damage to their homes.
