Cilla Black's post-mortem is 'conclusive', son says

One of Cilla Black's sons has said her post-mortem has proved conclusive, and that the family will release a statement shortly.

Six to stand trial over Becky Watts' murder in October

Six people will stand trial in connection with the murder of teenager Becky Watts in October.

The 16-year-old vanished from her home in Bristol in February sparking a huge police search.

Her body parts were discovered at a house in the city two weeks later.

Becky's stepbrother, Nathan Matthews, 28, and his girlfriend Shauna Hoare, 21, are charged with her murder.

The couple were also charged with perverting the course of justice, conspiracy to commit false imprisonment, preventing Becky's lawful burial and possessing a prohibited weapon.

Karl Demetrius, 29, Donovan Demetrius, 29, Jaydene Parsons, 23, and James Ireland, 23, were charged with assisting an offender.

They will all stand trial at Bristol Crown Court on October 6.

Glasgow bin lorry crash inquiry: 'discrepancy' over driver's past blackout

The GP of the bin lorry driver, which crashed and killed six people in Glasgow just before Christmas, has been giving evidence to an inquiry into the crash this morning.

Doctor Gerald McKaig confirmed that driver Harry Clarke did have a blackout in a staff canteen in 2010, which suggests some discrepancy in Mr Clarke's health records. The inquiry had previously heard Mr Clarke had blacked out at the wheel.

Police charge man with the murder of Bristol pensioner

Officials in Bulgaria have charged a local man with the rape and murder of a Bristol pensioner.

Jan Bennett, 67, is believed to have been attacked whilst out walking her dogs near her home in the village of Malomir.

A 40-year-old local man named as Ivan Georgiev by Bulgarian Authorities, has been arrested after police found DNA linking him to the scene.

Mrs Bennett was from the Eastville area of Bristol but had moved to the country with her husband just two months ago.

Cilla Black's three sons have been pictured leaving her Spanish holiday home as her post-mortem was completed.

Bobby, Ben and Jack were seen getting into a car outside the property this afternoon.

They told waiting reporters they "had an appointment to make".

It is thought they will now make arrangements to fly their mother's body home.

Police: 'Number of calls' over Heath sex abuse claims

Wiltshire Police said it had received a number of calls in response to its appeal for information on Monday in relation to allegations of child sex abuse against former Prime Minister Sir Edward Heath.

A force spokesman said: "The investigation team will be reviewing the information and following up any lines of inquiry as a result.

"Wiltshire Police continue to appeal to anyone who has information or may have been a victim of child sex abuse to come forward."

He added that the NSPCC, who the force is working with to provide support to victims, had also received calls in relation to the appeal.

The force spokesman added: “Please call the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000 or email help@nspcc.org.uk as they have dedicated staff in place to deal with victims or if you have information that may help police please call us via 101.”

Cilla tribute show to be broadcast on ITV tonight

A show honouring Cilla Black's life will be screened tonight following her death at the weekend.

'The One and Only Cilla Black', first shown in 2013, will be broadcast on ITV at 9pm with a specially-adapted introduction by her close friend Paul O'Grady.

The three-part drama Cilla, featuring Sheridan Smith, will also be repeated.

Cilla is believed to have died from natural causes at her holiday home in Spain on Saturday.
