The wife of British hostage Alan Henning says she has received audio of him pleading for his life. The 47-year-old aid worker was captured by militants in Syria last year and has been threatened with death by his Islamic State captors.
Five Arab states were named by Washington today as being part of US-led strikes against Islamic State fighters inside Syria.
But US Secretary of State John Kerry this evening warned that airstrikes alone would not work and called for an international coordinated effort, that needed "all hands on deck" to defeat the threat.

A review has been issued into the early stages of the Metropolitan Police's investigation of missing schoolgirl Alice Gross who disappeared four weeks ago in west London.
A reconstruction will be staged on Thursday and former senior investigating officer Colin Sutton said it is "vital that the public get involved".
Forces are now involved in a search which covers 9 square miles of open land and more than three miles of canals. The investigation is now focused on the stretch of the River Brent.

President Obama suggested this evening that there was no time limit on US-led airstrikes designed to defeat the Islamic State in major bases inside Syria.
US planes joined airforces from allies in the Gulf region, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.
The strikes killed at least 70 IS fighters, plus another 50 from other extremist groups operating inside the war-torn country, the US said, as Robert Moore reports.
