Hollywood actor Jim Carrey has hailed Gene Wilder "as one of the

The actor has died aged 83, from complications associated with Alzheimer's disease.

Gene Wilder's nephew has said the prospect of life without him is "almost unbearable".

In a statement, Jordan Walker-Pearlman said he was announcing the actor's death aged 83, "with indescribable sadness and blues but with spiritual gratitude for the life lived".

"It is almost unbearable for us to contemplate our life without him," he added.

Fry and Crowe pay tribute to 'comic genius' Gene Wilder

Stephen Fry has paid tribute to "comic genius" Gene Wilder who has died aged 83.

"Thank you for all those happy happy hours," he tweeted.

Australian actor Russell Crowe also took to Twitter to praise the actor.
