Events in Afghanistan have cast a shadow over Prince Harry's tour of Jamaica.

The Prince was in uniform for a visit to a military base and clearly in a more serious mood.

He scrapped plans to join soldiers abseilling down a rappelling tower although he still took part in a live firing exercise.

Harry has appeared to be in party mood here in the Caribbean but there will now be a change in tone.

He will still attend a beach party in the tourist resort of Montego Bay but it's unlikely the dancing we have seen in Belize and Kingston will be repeated.

Harry, now a fully qualified Apache pilot, is expected to return to Afghanistan himself in the months ahead.
