The family of Sergeant Nigel Coupe, from the 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, have paid a moving tribute to the eldest and highest ranking of the six British soldiers killed by a Taliban bomb. Sergeant Coupe's mother said he had prepared the family well for what might happen - but that she still never believed she could lose her only son.
Sergeant Coupe was father to two little girls himself. His widow said their eldest daughter had declared 'Daddy is a star now'.
Soldiers from 3rd Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment, which lost five men, have also spoken of their determination to complete the mission in Afghanistan. They've been training for their forthcoming deployment, and say they will honour the memory of their fallen comrades.
