Tony McCluskie, 35, will make his first court appearance today after being charged with the murder of his sister.

Gemma McCluskie's torso was discovered floating in a canal close to Hackney's Broadway Market last week, days after she attended a high-profile opening of the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, east London.

Mr McCluskie was formally charged by police on Saturday March 10th as divers continued their searches for Miss McCluskie's remaining body parts.

The actress, who played Kerry Skinner in EastEnders in 2001, went missing on March 1st.

Her remains were discovered on March 6th when a member of the public reported a suspicious object in Regent's Canal on Tuesday.

Friends and relatives had plastered the East End of London with posters and flyers appealing for information about her whereabouts.

Co-stars Natalie Cassidy and Brooke Kinsella both appealed on Twitter for help.

Tony McCluskie, of Pelter Street, Hackney, is accused of killing his sister between February 29th and March 6th. He will appear in custody at Thames Magistrates' Court in east London.
